Sapling
I apologize for the hasty pictures, but I wanted to take a few just after potting, and the rain was just starting.
It has been in a 5 gallon nursery pot for the past 5 years. It was left and neglected in the corner of my yard, but it thrived putting out a lot of growth.
Today I broke out the reciprocating saw and cut off the bottom 3/4 of the nursery container and cleaned in the roots best as I could. There were three rather large roots that were growing downward that I needed to cut off. With more lateral root growth, I should be able to take the tree lower next year.
Next I need to cleanup and wire the branches I want to keep, it is really a ball of mess as you can see, but that just means lots of options already to work with. I will get better shots once I have cleaned it up a bit.
