I apologize for the hasty pictures, but I wanted to take a few just after potting, and the rain was just starting.
It has been in a 5 gallon nursery pot for the past 5 years. It was left and neglected in the corner of my yard, but it thrived putting out a lot of growth.

Today I broke out the reciprocating saw and cut off the bottom 3/4 of the nursery container and cleaned in the roots best as I could. There were three rather large roots that were growing downward that I needed to cut off. With more lateral root growth, I should be able to take the tree lower next year.

Next I need to cleanup and wire the branches I want to keep, it is really a ball of mess as you can see, but that just means lots of options already to work with. I will get better shots once I have cleaned it up a bit.

You certainly have a lot to work with, looking forward to what you do with it.

If it grew that well while being neglected, it should do great with more attentive care. Lots of options there, keep us posted! Please post a photo in leaf, I'm not real familiar with the species.
