Collected Kusamono ?

Bonsai Miria has put out a video on YouTube called “How to Master the Art of Kusamono”. I surprisingly found it very cool especially that I’m more into long term projects such as 20 year bonsai plans . In the video they talk about Yamadori collectors who would also take little plants as well for Kusamono. I see many little plants when I look for bonsai material but I never thought about taking those also !

I have 2 main questions. How do you determine a plant is good for collection and what is the procedure? I would like to see if anyone here has ever done this !

How do you determine a plant is good for collection and what is the procedure?

The fun thing is dont do it, just collect random moss and small plants from the streets, whatever grows it grows and surprisingly some weeds are very decorative
