Wow, Mark. Those roots are massive! Now at this point how long will you have to wait to cut back even more on those roots? I can't wait to see what this looks like in the future.

it will happen in stages. The grafts should be established in about 2 years. At that time, I’ll probably go though this exercise again. I bare rooted the right side this time, all the way back to the trunk. Next time I’ll bare root the left side. I‘ll probably be able to reduce them more and I’ll add two more grafts to the back side of the roots. 2-3 more years and I hope to remove most of the rest - perhaps all the way back to the grafts.
