I collected this privet from a forest in Feb. 2017. Nothing special but it was fun and learned some lessons for my future digs.

This is what it looked like after cleanup Feb 2017.

I repotted it yesterday Feb 2018. Most of the roots grew from the large root stumps. I should have cut those much closer to the trunk after collecting last year. Live and learn.

I am hoping for a pot full of roots again next year.

Cheers you nuts.

Now that's a nebari! Neat! When are you going to do branch selection? It seems you have a lot of double branches

Yup, I lucked out on the large roots having spread so nicely. This was dug in an area that was solid clay just a couple inches under the soil.

I am still deciding on branches. I should have couple days to think about it before buds start popping out all over.
