I read in a bonsai blog that when a collected tree leafs out if there is no extension growth then there is an imbalance between foliage and not enough roots. Is this true? As such the tree should spend the first season in shade with careful watering and misting when possible. My simple understanding though is more sun equals more photosynthesis equals more roots and then foliage. I have a great trunk I don’t want to lose by pushing too hard. I’m greatful for any advice. It is in a wooden box with straight pumice, currently in the shade.
