Here’s the tree after the India ink/lime sulfur mix has dried.

I was going for a dark gray color on this one. Best to start off with a drop or two in the lime sulfur. You could always come back and paint with the ink. Wash it off after you apply it. The longer you leave it on, the darker the wood will get.

Next step is to apply the epoxy. I use this product:

It come in two parts - A and B. Mix the 50/50 in a small plastic cup. Do it in a well ventilated Space - the smell is overpowering. Wear gloves.

Protect the pot. Drips are not easily removed.

Paint the product on the wood with an acid brush when it’s completely dry. It will be absorbed into the wood as it dries.

Apply a couple of coats over all the exposed dead wood. It will harden and be a bit shiny when it dries at first. The shininess fades after a couple of months, so do it well in advance of the show it you plan on showing it.

Spring! I’ll wire it out in a few more weeks when the new growth matures.

I repotted this season and moved it into a second generation yamaaki pot.

Nice! I have a Possomhaw Holly (Ilex decidua) I collected last year. Looking forward to its development. I'm going to be following and taking notes.

A much better image in the octo pot for sure!

Thank you. It took a while for me to find the right pot for it, but I really like the way it looks in this Reihou. Shorter, but more breathing room I think.
