Well well.. my tractor front bucket just committed me to collecting in December :D
It's pretty good size. Almost 4" at the base and trunks up to 2" in diameter.

This thing is budding everywhere so yeah it will live. It is about the size I want since I don't have a desire for big bonsai. I am planning to pot it soon as it warms up which will be about 5 weeks from now. It will be in a round 9" pot. Currently it is in a 15" colander. Any suggestion on styling is sincerely appreciated.

One is now in a repurposed thrift store pot.

The roots are forming fast in this little spaghetti bucket. It's time to cut their escape holes.

Top of spaghetti bucket cut off allowing for removal of 1 inch of soil.

Shoots pruned to second set of leaves.

Goal is to remove spaghetti tub completely in 1 year.

Yours seem to be growing really well. I finally went to dig the couple of roadside clumps today and it was not pretty! Right at and below ground level they were a big, gnarly mess of smallish shoots and dead bigger stems. Nothing to work with but maybe cut the offending mass off at the main stem. I just potted them in regular potting soil and may use them in the landscape later. Oh well.

Well, the one I dug in late Feb. didn't look like much at first, but it leafed out and is growing decently. I've trimmed it back and now it's a pretty decent mini-fairytale tree. Long way to go.

CR, yours is looking great with the flowers and everything. I hope you continue with it. I'm interested in it's progression.
