I returned home to find my bonsai garden, just past peak. About a week too late, but still colorful. I'll take a few more photos this week and will post in my new blog, but in the meantime, enjoy these!

Fall color crepe

I am almost embarrassed to follow up some of those exquisite previous examples, but what this crepe is lacking in form, it makes up for in hue. This coming spring I am planning on just about starting over with the branching. And the oak is a new recruit. He must be embarrassed too because he is

Some of the last of the fall color for this season. I don't have many trees that are at an advanced stage, so these are mostly "project" trees.

1. Japanese maple, variety Higasayama. This one may go in the ground as the trunk isn't all that great...

2. Rhododendron kiusianum. My wife bought this a few years ago and almost killed it by leaving it indoors on a windowsill during the winter, and over-watering it. So the past couple of years have been spent simply re-establishing the root system and overall vigor. It produced a few blooms this past spring (white). Has a long way to go...

3. Rhodo k. flower (from May):

4. Deshojo air layer which was separated a couple of months ago.

I usually don't get much color here in Mobile, Alabama, but my dwarf crepe myrtle has decided to show off. Not too spectacular, but good for here. My bald cypress is starting to turn to.

I have been waiting to post my JM but it has not turned much, as many others have posted mine is just getting brown and dropping leaves. The picture I posted is from last year on 11-16 and what I was hoping for this year. I had just gotten it last oct. when it turned the red. It did well all summer but started to look poor in september. The River bluff pictures are from Fall of 2011, I did some more in 2012 but they did not capture the moment the same.
