Seedling
I acquired this Elm in Aug 2017 as field grown stock at a nearby bonsai nursery. These Elms grow aggressively here so to find large trunk stock is relatively easy.
The nursery was ruthless with the root cutting on collection. The ''norm'' is to put them in tubs filled with high organic dense soil . When I brought this tree home i quickly replaced the soild with 40/60 pine bark and crushed clay aggregate (LECA) the tree responded very well.
Buds popping all over.
Some weeks later we had leaves!
I had a sneak peak at the roots this year at ''repotting season'' and decided to move it into a training pot that had enough room to grow masses of root to help with some branch thickening.
This is its font and current look of tree. The repotting has slowed the growth this year but i will wait until it regains vigour before i do any work on it. for now ill just let it grow.
