Is it normal for cotoneaster leaves to turn yellow/red in the autumn? There seems to be conflicting information on this. Some websites say they’re evergreen, others say they’re “sometimes deciduous”.

This one is a grey leaf variety. Cotoneaster glaucophyllus. I did a little root work, pruning, and potted it late last month. It looked fine until about a week ago when the leaves started turning color. The color change doesn’t appear to be on this years newer growth. It’s more scattered around the interior foliage.

My suspicion is over watering. It was given a thorough soaking and then it rained heavily for a couple days.
