Hello,

I got this malus a couple of months ago and now that lost the leaves I'm thinking about potential design but I can't manage to get some clear idea. It has lot of buds and I believe it will go lot of new branches next spring. Most branches are already very lignified and would be very difficult to reposition them with wire

This is how it is today:
The front

The other side:

I would welcome suggestions.

Thanks

Looks like you definitely found the front! I’d probably prune the heavy branches (red) and try to relocate the branches into the positions shown in green.

Thank you very much for taking the time. As it is normal in pics, the perspective is difficult sometimes to perceive. I add another picture where I enumerate the available branches and I add some comments to each of them below.

20181112_183340.jpg
1. It grows from a lateral area and quite distant from the front. So I don't think it could be used as a first branch but I could bend it down and more to the back to use it as a back branch?...
2. I believe I need to cut this one form the part you proposed. It is too thick and grows straight up and from a lateral.
3. It's well positioned to wire it down and use it as a right branch as you indicated
4. It is not so visible in the pics but it grows to the front, to your eye. Also too hard as to wire it to the right so I might need to cut it?
5. It's a small branch that grows from just behind number 4 I can wire it down and would be another right branch
6. Its pretty hard but I can try to wire it to the left and a bit down to use it as left branch. Will be difficult to bend that one...
7. Small branch but well positioned on the left I can wire it down and left and use it as left branch
8. It grows right from the back. I can wire it and bend it a bit down and use it as a back branch
9 and 10. Potential Apex. 9 is thinner and pointing right 10 thicker and pointing left. I believe you suggest 10 as Apex. Can I know why? :)

I add additional pics to have more details

Thank you very much for the advises.

At the end I decided to take that way. I did a first approach in this reportting. Next one I believe will be easier as roots would be better position to the new angle.

I did short video:

Regards

I like where you are going with it.
I will be watching to see what it looks like later on.
