Do you know the age of this tree roughly?
I have quite a number of Crab Apple trees grown from seed 3 years ago but no sign of flowers yet!
Im thinking I should have tried air layers or cuttings so that they flower sooner?

Well Ive had it for four years. I bought it when I worked at Lowe's. It's just a standard landscape tree. I'd guess it's probably 5 or 6 years old? I kept it in the ground for a year or so after I chopped it. All of the cumulative work done to it delayed flowering. The root base is all gnarly because it was full of suckers by the end of the season when I bought it and I just liked the look of it.

I have a ton of crabapples all cuttings from two 'mother' trees and they haven't really pushed flowers yet either. I know in general a fruit tree needs a few years to mature before you see much activity. I also got a bit more disciplined with fertilizers and started proactively treating the crabs last season. They're tough trees but tend to be prone to damn near everything. Around here at least.
