Lysimachia is invasive in many states and clogs up creeks and other riparian habitats across the US. It’s commonly used as a trailer in ornamental container designs here in CA. I’m in southern CA where it gets hot and dry. I dropped in some cuttings in the ground in a shady corner of the garden. It gets maybe 1-3 hrs of sun. The idea is to add some life to this ugly corner of the garden.

Since we get hot here and I can control the plants irrigation, do I have to worry about it taking over this corner and its potential invasive attributes. Will I see it pop up in another part of the beds and never be able to get rid of it? Thank you kindly.

It takes over here in Virginia even in non irrigated areas. There are a lot of worse plants and I don't regret planting it but sometimes have to weed it out a bit.

We have it pop up in the lawn occasionally. ….the typical olive color prostrate species. It disappears when the heat comes. The one I planted was the blaze lime green variety.
