Hello Folks,

I took 2 root cuttings from my wife’s crepe myrtle this spring.
They’re doing pretty good so far under my patio roof, where they receive indirect light all day.

I started this thread to keep track of their progress and get styling tips from everyone.

How are they looking?

What should I do to prepare them for their first winter?

Thanks,

Bobby

Looking good to me! I would have started them in separate containers though. I’m not sure about your climate but they should be fine how ever you winter your other trees.

We get down to about zero F on rare occasions here in Hershey, PA; but typical winters seen single digits for a couple of days straight. I usually overwinter my deciduous trees in an east facing shed with a small air vent in the top of the structure.

I think I might try a do a type of slip pot and pull the smaller one, placing it in its own container. I don't think it would harm either tree, I'll just back fill the void left in the original pot.
