I am trying to increase my stock plants by getting cuttings of Chinese Juniper (sargentii) Zelkova Serrata, Korean Fir and European Larch. Cuttings are something I have never had success with and I want to do this right. I don't have a green house or a cold frame. I have prepared soil beds in clear plastic containers that snap shut to keep humidity levels high. I know it will take about five weeks for roots to develop. My questions are

1) Where should I put these containers for the duration?
2) How much sun if any should they get.
3) When water beads on the insides I assume that means humidity is high. Do I need to worry about fungus?

I tried to keep the containers in doors yesterday to see how much humidity would build up in the late afternoon. There wasn't much.

I'll listen to any advice, anecdotes whatever, I just really want these plants to thrive.

What I have read and practiced is putting the cuttings in a plastic pot full of course sand. I put them about an inch apart and then water the container thoroughly until water came
Through bottom. After that I stuck pencils around the perimeter of the sand, roughly 4 or 5 of them. Then I put the container in a plastic garbage bag (no lid and should be a white garbage bag). Then I pull the string to close the bag and set it in a shaded area. I leave it there and every couple days I check and open the bag to allow fresh air. That's it. I also rub a little root hormone on the cuttings to help thing move along. Hope this helps.

5 weeks and you should have roots
