Dawn redwood airlayer, root only one side?

These 2 were started in the beginning of April this year...

As of today I can see the rooting, but only on one side, of each, not radial.....

Has anyone got nice radial roots out of airlayer from Dawn redwood? or it is too early to judge since more on the other sides will come after?

What if by the time of removal, still only one side of root......, will more come after putting into the pot next year?

My plan to to remove it by the end of autumn.

Layers often produce roots all round but not always. It seems to be a bit of a bit of a lottery.
Looks like those roots have only just started so there is still a good chance that more will start. I've noticed that roots seem to start on the sunny(warm) side first but usually the other side comes soon after so it may be too early to pass judgement and even if the roots are not real good at removal there is still a good chance that more will develop in the pot.
Nothing is guaranteed with living things except eventual death. The best you can do is continue to hope and provide good conditions.

what Shibui said . you should be good to collect in the fall, even if you don't have roots all the way around the base. just cut the underside of the callus with no roots and it might stimulate some more to come out. the first layer i did on my redwood was a little sloppy, and i too only got roots on one side. i just waited a few years and layerd it very, very aggressively higher up and i got a pretty decent radial nebari.
