I have a Dawn Redwood, purchased about 4 years ago, maybe 9-10 year old. I noticed today some bark had come off at the top of the tree. A couple of limbs also and they were at the top. The exposed wood is green and the tree seem in good health for the most part. Has lost most leaves when the heat hit, but has come back very good new growth. At first I thought this may have been squirrels but not teeth marks and I did not find any bugs. I have been keeping is moist in this heat and it seem to like it. Is the bark peeling normal for this tree?

Thanks,
Michael

You probably already know this but the dawn redwood is the only species of three redwood that is deciduous so expect it to lose its needles.
