You rotten no good SOB's. You have uprooted my Black Pine and Chinese Elm for the last time. I've always thought you Squirrels were nothing more than furry tailed rats and from this day forward, I will treat you accordingly.

And for all you Sparrows that continually pull the roots of my Maples; you can follow the Squirrels right to hell.

Today is the last day that I will wake up to the gravel mess and my trees in a state of bare- rooted shock. Nets are installed and you are not welcome--not that you ever were.

This is war!

Sincerest Regards,

Shimp

AMEN! And don't forget the raccoons.

Pellet gun works, but there are too many....

Grow bigger trees. I still have squirrels, but they can't do as much damage to a tree with a four inch trunk that's in five gallons of soil.

My trees are on my bench on my patio on the 4th floor of an apartment building, and a couple weeks ago I woke up to find gravel and soil all over the floor. Not sure what kind of birds they were but they went to work!

Shimpaku, do you use fish emulsion or fertilizer cakes? I used to have the same problem all the time, but finally gave up on those two types of fertilizers, and no problems any more.

Pellet guns are unlawful in many jurisdictions, but a good WHAM-O slingshot is even better. And, use the squirrel's own medicine as ammo -- acorns!

Agreed. I just moved to my new place, and there seems to be a large population of squirrels here. I can assure you, the population will be significantly diminished within the next couple weeks... They even wake me up in the morning by running across my roof, repeatedly. Gonna go buy half a dozen live rodent traps today and relocate them far far away (don't have the heart to kill em').

I thought ahead about this and decided to use Dynagro. My poor JBP has been technically repotted 3 times in 3 weeks because of these ACORN DIGG'N RATS! Nets in effect.

No, No, No....nothing doing to get PETA worked up and at my door. But I will say this much: Nets for NOW......... The varmins destiny lies in whether they decide to circumvent my nets. "Plan B" is being considered until further suspect.

Working on this. If you have any to donate to my cause, I can guarantee that'll show 'em. PM me for my address and I'll pay for shipping =-)

The racoons are relegated to my trash can only. They get carcasses and I get peace. If they want to throw in the mix, I am more than happy to up the Antie and oblige with harsher tactics.

The Battle Front is calm as of 5:54pm. But I must remind you, THIS IS WAR and there is no substitute for VICTORY!!!

What does it mean when they look you in the eye whilst seated and twitch their tails?

When a Robin alights on the feeding station and looks at you it means they want live food, worms or something.

Shimpaku, in war there are generals who command the troops. I would play the general and get me some troops, a two foot rubber snake and a life size plastic owl with the reflective eyes should tip the battle in your favor.

Well, we have two outdoor barn cats. No rats, mice, squirrels, possums around this place. Oddly, they leave the birds alone.

Funny, the squirrels around here leave the the pots alone when the fertilizer cakes are present, and only occasionally dig in those pots without cakes. I set my fertilizer cakes on mousetraps...wonder if that has anything to do with it....

Fish emulsion only seems to attract yellow jackets...so I do that quick and early in the AM. It also helps neighbor relations...she thinks she woke up near the ocean every Saturday morning...

Not to mention it really classes up the joint...:p

Why do people still use wierd fertilizer? Is it some kind of traditional spiritual thing? I use regular old osmocat. And all my trees are very happy. Rodents still attack though.

I tried the same thing, but to no avail. For some reason they just wont go in my havahart trap. I work great with ground squirrels but I cant wrap my head around a way to catch those squirrels.

Peta isn't very popular in WY....can't imagine why...

...I guide hunters every year, and one of the best moments was passing a peta van on the highway with a full buffalo in the back of my truck....lol. -- Sorry, not trying to offend anyone. Some of us just have an entirely differnt take on some things in life.

Anyway, my teacher used a live trap and ended up transporting many squirrels to the other side of the river a couple of years ago. Worked great! But I think he has to do it again this year.
