Demo Azalea “Raft”

I believe this to be some sort of Kurume Azalea, but I’m not certain. I also don’t know what color the flowers are but based on the Azalea next to it they are most likely white. Anyway, it came from a shrub that had almost fully died back with the exception of these few branches. I recovered them and made this little planting, so who knows it may make it. Not a show stopper but after some years of wire and growth it may turn out nice. I’d really like to wire the long trunk to make the bends more dramatic and give the branches some wicked bends. If it recovers I’ll be able to next spring I think.

That could be a fun project! You might consider just leaving the bends in the trunk as they are, rather than risking snapping something. I've had to rethink a couple of azalea plans after trying too hard. After a year or two, you'll be able to cut back your secondary trunks and have something really nice.
