Deshojo, air layer or character

I have a Deshojo maple that got damaged. I can either air layer, or leave as uro?/character? I'm not sure which avenue I should take.

That will heal, especially in the ground

clean up the wound and seal it with grey cut putty. it will heal over completely. the better you prep the wound the better your healing will be. do it once and do it right, and later you will never know it happened....

It's the front. And "Fantastic"! That's great to hear everyone, I was pretty bummed when I saw it this spring. I'll clean and dress.

Here she is in beautiful spring color. I'm going to do an air layer mid tree for next stage of trunk dev.
