Developing branches on Sumo Ilex Crenata

I got these 3 Ilex crenata that I collected some time back. I've reduced them to sumo size and have them in 10"x12"x2" flat. The trunks now look decent but the branches are twiggy. What should I do to develop the branches on these trees?

Collected last year and allowed to recover in a Home Depot cement tub. Decided to move it to a flat this morning. Started at 4 am. Done at 5:30 am :) Will do branch selection and carving later. I cut away a stub and can see I need to cut another one.

[Paradox]

Pruning the growth back to where you want the branch to be. Each place leaves come out have nodes. If you prune back to that set of leaves, they should elongate to form new branches
