I just got my first ficus, a Burtt-Davyi, from Meehan's Miniatures in the mail.

I don't plan on doing any drastic chopping on this plant. I'd like to use the clip and grow method to do most of the training if I can, but if I need to do any big cuts I'd like to know whether I need to have cut paste handy since they ooze sap when they're cut.

I plan on keeping it in front of a south facing window with a couple supplemental lights. I'd like to build something like Redwood Ryan has for his tropicals eventually.

Here are a couple pics. The first is what I think I'll use for the front. Any suggestions beyond the need for cut paste will also be appreciated.

I use duct seal, but you can use nothing, it's probably a 50/50 thing of do or don't, for most trees.
As to the sap running, once you cut it, spray some water on the bleeding out latex, and it will stop right away.

I never seal any ficus cuts, nature does it for you...great species for your 1st ficus:)
