Us non japanese abuse the word yamadori very often as we don't tend to understand the full translaion/meaning, but we all know what you meant. Keep them and develop them it all good experience and who knows you may end up with a tree you enjoy.

i do plan on pulling some of these..
would straight perlite be good or just some organic material?

All my yard volunteers get bare rooted, planted in bonsai soil in 4inch starter pots to develope more feeder roots, and kept in shade for a week or so until signs of new growth. Maybe you can wire some funky movement into em this year or next. Have fun 😀

i think you can use just about anything. i use DE for everything, althouhg Im looking at getting nursery soil for developing trees.
Definitely sell them to vigorous people:)
