I'm curious, do you have any Bonsai related goals that you have set for yourself? Would you please share? I'd love to hear-short, medium or long term. Also if you have any Bonsai new years resolutions I would love to hear those as well.

Thanks!

Continue to learn how to wire better and earlier in the process...
Really understand pines...(and evergreens in general)
Maybe... exhibit a tree at a show some day

Mostly - Healthy trees.

Acquire and style a collected sierra juniper by the end of the year (2012), place higher than Al in a display competition, maybe write another article, and sell as many trees as I possibly can to pay for college...

Judy-Constantly improving my wiring is a goal of mine as well! I think you need to change your statement to-I will show a tree in X amount of years:)

Brian-are you currently attending a college, which one? I went to UCSB and it would have been very difficult to do anything Bonsai related, glad to hear you are into Bonsai. Do you ever study w/ Boon? Have you had a fascination with Sierra junipers lately? I think they are my favorite type of tree.

Dav-great goals

Judy I'm glad you to hear you thinking about them, I think about them alot! My short term goals are to finish Boon's Intensive classes, squeeze in 4 overnight collecting trips this year and my Bonsai new years resolution is to wire twice as often as last year. I guess it's a perfect time to start discussing our Bonsai New Years Resolutions as well if anyone has any.

My Long Term Goals
*Have a collection considered among the best in the world
*Become a confident Bonsai expert
*Do my part to improve Bonsai in the U.S.
*Run a successful small bonsai business

Only one goal at this stage of my life: Live long enough to "finish" some of my trees.

Boy, you got that right. I'm looking a a couple of decent pines and statistics say I'll never see them considered bonsai.

Some of my long-term goals:
1. Still be doing it when I'm Harry Hirao's age.
2. Have one of my trees displayed in the collection at Lake Merritt. (and the National Arboretum)

Shorter term goals:
1. Get my California Styrax and Buckeye to bloom and bear fruit.
2. Master watering. (Harder than you think)
3. Have Ryan say my wiring of a tree was perfect.
4. Improve my grafting success.
5. Get invited to collect some great Rocky mountain junipers.
6. Have a successful GSBF convention 2012 in Sacramento.

Vance Wood will tell ya age has nothing to do with finishing a tree. A week without water will do it for ya!

My goal is to master the art of subterfuge so that I may successfully sneak more trees and pots into the yard without getting busted.

My goals? To re-pot everything and finish the redesign of most everything. Nothing much has been done in two seasons because of one thing or another concerning my mother's health care and liquidation of her property three states away.

I'm there! Just say when.
And I'll reciprocate with a California collecting trip.
