Does the Sessile oak (quercus patreae) needs dormancy to survive?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I've just bought this oak and I don't know if it will survive my environment (Zone 11). I know that this specie is more commom in temperate regions, but in my research is often said that it can endure different kinds of environments, but is never said if it needs dormancy to survive like, for instance, an acer palmatum.

A search on the internet tells me this species is hardy down to USDA zone 4 and is very similar to quercus robur/English oak except that it prefers higher altitudes (cooler temps?), so it seems likely to me that this tree needs dormancy. Maybe a Mexican oak species would be better suited?
