This is a trident maple I may purchase. Any suggestions on what direction to go with it?

Thanks.

Jim,

Are you sure that the right trunk is alive? As shown, I would be hesitant to buy it.

Martin

What is it that you like about this one?

I was eyeballing that...You either purchased it or you know the purchaser, because that ebay auction is over and it was sold....Quit being coy, lol........Nice material though, only reason I didn't bid is the straight shot on the big trunk....if it had any taper i would have fought over this...

Any contribution as to what can be done?

I'll investigate the nebari first and see if it is worth keeping those 2 trunks together. If they will be together, get rid of that ugly root right away. Your virt chop (location) looks okay but the branches...you know what I think already. ;)

Whatever you do, I hope you style it like a deciduous tree.

Ah, the seller still has it...Curious to what he's trying to get for it...I think the auction ended around $120 if I'm not mistaken....

I decided against buying it, so it will likely show up on ebay soon.

right....Good dodge, by the way.... The large trunk would have to be severely reduced to get any taper in there, and at that point what you paid for, which is a large trunk, really isn't that impressive anymore.....kudos
