Do NOT rummage around the roots
Do NOT remove more foliage. You need the foiage to root.

Have you been misting the foliage multiple times a day?

on roots, to seek what went wronG? It is dead.

the leftover boards I used to construct the grow box were pressure treated. Would that have killed the tree? I don’t want to make that same mistake in the future if that was the main cause of death.

I have been using PT wood for plants for close to 40 years. The formula today is less caustic than the old formula. I have never had a plant death due to use of PT wood.

Pretty sure that being dug, bare rooted and potted at the wrong time of year is what did it in.
Either way the wife wanted it out of there so mission accomplished.
