all leaves fell off some of the limbs died off so I decided to look underneath and found it growing new feeder roots I think the soil was too wet and had some root rot so I repotted into some pumice and lava and pine and turface. Should I give up or since their is still some green roots what do ya think?

I have a few that never go dormant. They actively grow under lights all winter long. I have pruned them back at least 3 times this winter. Does sound like you overwatered. but your repot will probably save it. You might want to give it a peroxide / water mix every now and then. I use 1 part peroxide to 4 parts water for a soil soak.
