Elm air layer, will it survive?

This is an elm layer that I started one year ago. I was disappointed by the lack of roots given the amount of time it was growing. We'll have to see if it survives the summer.

Yeah but Barry, it's an elm. Only running over them will kill them once they have any roots at all in my experience.
 
I tend to agree with JudyB, Elms are pretty forgiving, my only experience with Catlin Elms and Chinese Elms though. It looks like you got a pot full of roots, looks like a successful layer to me. Are you planning on keeping it that size? It makes a striking little tree as it is now.
