I have bonsai-ed all the weeds in my garden...if I did not...I could have killed many trees clipping them non stop.
This is something I have failed to find a bonsai from. I have one in my garden that I have grown for over 20 years from a cutting, so I decided to air layer it.
Not sure if I will manage to make a bonsai from it, but I have to try. I have not found a bonsai made from it to date.
It has long internodes, and if cut back it gets 30 shoots from a node...which if not addressed fast creates a knob. But if you remove the shoots new ones keep on coming.
Here is what I did to date. Any advise...info...a picture of bonsai from it will be appreciated.
AL removed

and planted

Removed one of the trunks but left it a bit long so I get some shoots in that area...it will be carved later.

Yesterday I found it flowering and it looks good.

I have a shoot mid way the top section of the trunk so That will be the new leader. Later I shall try to create some taper on the trunk, by hollowing and splitting it.

Seems like it would make a good large informal broom form bonsai. The clusters of new branches would have to be watched like a hawk, but I bet it could get dense and twiggy with constant shearing. I like those flowers too.

The biggest problem is that it starts with long internodes...if you chop it back you go back to zero...That is the biggest problem so far.
This is how it looks when in flower...No eaves just flowers that have petals resembling leaves.
The last one is the tree I got the layer from.
