I recently purchased two european beech (fagus sylvatica) saplings from a garden centre and am looking for some advice on what's best to do with them now. I am planning on repotting into more appropriate soil than what they are currently in (presumably some kind of organic potting mixture) and into some pond baskets.
I also want to chop them shorter, the taller one especially as it is about my height, is this a good idea at the moment? My first thoughts are to chop at the red lines indicated on the pictures, good spot or not?
