It'll be interesting to see how that right trunk has developed. I've never worked a Hackberry so I'm always keen to learn, albeit vicariously.

the left trunk was also slightly reduced to a favourable shoot to improve change of direction and taper, update in few weeks

ive got a celtis sinensis, your nebari looks way better than my tree has great find!

Ive had the same going on with some leaves on my hibiscus last year ive removed them it didnt spread and didnt came back this year Either

Ive let the wire grow in quite a bit on the shoot that will be the new trunkline actualy i tought it was bitten in to much but in two weeks it was Hardly noticable that happend

i think you just caught it at the right time then. happened to me on a zelkova branch too but barely noticeable after strong growing.
Celtis are an excellent bonsai subject and one of the best species for ultra dense twigging.

setting the lines on this Hackberry, it got a full wiring.
can be left to power on next season...will be clipped harder in the crown and the lower branches will get to run a bit..i may downsize the pot too...



the fine branching reminds me of Zelkova, even the bark texture and colour...

Had a look at the roots and downsized the pot earlier, the tree has a nice flat root system.
The pot is probably a bit wide, but suitable to further develop the branch structure...
will be left to grow and cut back later in season..

this one hasnt skipped a beat since the repot, ive been somewhat keeping the top in check and allowing a few low branches to extend

Winter update, little more twiggy than last season. Just needs to be allowed to grow out and thicken up now...
I wont do a winter wire n style this time around, i was going to re style the tree and have everything rising upwards but i think the current setting of the primary branches suits this material.

This is a virtual, you can see how reducing the low right branch a little, alters the image.

I think i would continue to grow out the first left branch and have that side dip a little and the right side ascend a tiny bit more...

Shortening the top and making the tree more compact i think would also suit the material, this is a virt

I really like this tree, Bobby! It has come a long way in just a few short years. The delicate twigging in the tertiary branches makes for a convincing image.
I'm somewhat bothered by the "slingshot-iness" of the two main trunks though. I think this could be greatly improved by reducing the secondary trunk slightly.
Regardless, it's a nice tree and it's developing very well. Keep us posted of it's development.

Thanks for your comments. i think a further reduction of the shorter trunk would have it appear more like a stump than a second trunk and wouldnt improve the image.
