cannot believe how much this has grown in such a short time. Really good to see!

Has been five years storing energy from here

to here

And now the patience pay off . In "only" eight months it has gone from this

To that

Let the plant grow worth the effort! ;)

Next year I expect to make a short pruning, and have a more compact and full silhouette. We will see....to have tapper in branches take time...

I purchased a small pot this spring, about the same size you started with. Good to see my plan, which happens to align with what you did five years ago, will bear good fruit.

How has it grown this year so far?

So far, so good!

I'm letting it grow in order to close this wound

well.. You did take the roots back a lot. That is where it has invested its energy

Yes, may it be, but this another elm (Ulmus pumila) had a similar treatment

And the growth has been quite larger with the same substrate, same pot, same feeding, same watering and similar sun exposition. Who knows the reason!!

Thnaks for the comments!

Update 31/01/2021

Young one year old growth is still malleable, and suitable for bending. But in this one I going to apply the clip and grow tecnique. It will grow freely to early summer, and It will be prune then.

Cheers.
Nice progress! And good soundtrack choice.
Oh oh oh ohoh.

Great progression, @davidlp. Thanks for the pictures!

These elms grow ridiculously fast. I put three pencil-sized trunks in a field last March and their bases are all as thick as my wrist in less than a year. Need to get some pictures of them next time I'm out.
