Ezo Spruce #3 - After six (!) years the wire was taken off today. Not in a single spot has the wire started to bite in. So I could have left it another year or even longer. This shows us how slowly this species grows. A tree like this can be easily be way over 100 years old or much older. Anyway, looking back six years I am sort of happy.

Lovely tree. I need to take off a large straight root from a spruce and start to reduce others. Is August a good time? I dug it up in August 3 years ago.

I love the bark on old spruce, and this one looks exceptional. I love how the movement in the container mirrors the movement of the trunk. The branching is also wonderfully styled considering what you started with.
