So i make my own fertilizer at home. Even though i use white glue to prevent dust. I still have issies with squirrels digging fertilizer up. The glue stopped about 70% of the digging. But the 30% left is very damaging. Since its a dense neighborhood removing the squirrels is not an option. Are there any deterrents for these cute furry evil snots

I use a product called Uncle Ian’s for possums, coons and some tunnelers.
It is blood meal and red pepper. Most prey animals do not like the smell of blood and if they do get a wifi there is red pepper dust in it. You must reapply if it gets wet, but it will break down and provide nutrients for your trees.

I would say the be best way to apply would be at the perimeter of your growing area, fences/fence lines or at the perimeter of your pots, outside of them maybe on the benches.

I added cayenne pepper to my birdseed and my feeders haven't been bothered by squirrels since. Apparently, birds don't have taste buds. I would sprinkle some on the surface and see if they go away.
