okay, which one of you bought this tree for $521.99? What prompted you to buy it?

AS SEEN IN PHOTOS THIS TREE SPEAKS FOR IT SELF, , IT IS A MAME JAPANESE LACE LEAF MAPLE GREEN. IT IS IN A STAMPED TOKONME POT THAT IS 4.5 X 3.25 BY 1.75 TALL. THE TREE STANDS 5.5" FROM THE SOIL LINE, IT IS 6" WIDE, AND WITH A MASSIVE TRUNK OF 2.5 INCHES. THE TREE IS 13 YEARS OLD, IT HAS BEEN REPOTTED EVERY 3 YEARS, PINCHED AND TRIMMED BACK., fertilized ect. I HAVE ALWAYS HAD A WARM PART IN MY HEART FOR THIS LITTLE DEVIL, IT HAS SUCH GOOD SHAPE AND I HATE TO PART WITH IT.

I STARTED IT FROM A SEED OFF OF MY GREEN LACELEAF MAPLE. UNLIKE THE GRAFTED ONES AT NURSERIES THIS HAS NO GRAFT, BEING STARTED FROM SEED IS VERY COOL BECAUSE EACH TREE FROM SEED IS A LITTLE DIFERENT GIVING DIFFERENT LEAF PATTERS.

I'm pretty sure this boils down to them compensating the seller for dealing with the loss of this show winner tree...he surely doesn't want to part with such razed piece. Crazy...listed starting price...$19.99 what happens when one gets tunnel vision and no clue to bonsai material...and to much money to spend.

When I see some of these auctions, I wonder if shill bidding is involved. Seller gets a few friends to "battle" over a listing which ends up at a ridiculous price, friend pays seller who reimburses his friend. Ebay makes a commission so it's a net loss (though I assume the fee isn't too large) to the seller, but it gives viewers the idea that the trees are worth way more than they really are...so maybe other trees get bid higher.
