Hi everyone - does anyone know what these growths are on my ficus? Should they be removed?

Thank you.

They are cankers. I have never seen them on ficus. Honestly, I would burn it but what do I know.

Crown gall disease. These are bacterial and can spread through aphids, tools and everything that comes into contact with it. They can and likely will infect other trees, so the firepit is the safest option.

This is exactly so. I drew a mental blank during one of my mental farts and could not remember the term precisely, thus just said canker instead of gall.
I can barely remember peoples names much less those of plant ailments.

I was going to shout tumefasciens @penumbra ! But ypur brain fart made me google and it seems there's another variety strictly found on fici.
So all in all, the outcome is positive. I learned something new.
