So this tree was a little clipping on February 2021, now it is shaped nice. I had it in a 3 gallon pot, outdoors since May, topsoil. The roots were mostly fine and radial, did a 10% root reduction and 10% off the top.

Goal: To reduce the height by 2" and get new branches where the lower trunk is wider.

So, I am thinking of letting the little roots, visible in the once repotted photo, to become leafy branches. Do 1" roots ever become branches when put in air and sun?
Then in a couple of weeks I plan to reduce the top of the tree 40%, to further it's hormone response to bud mid trunk.
The front porch gets 1.5x sun as a result of reflection off of the siding in the morning, then shade in the hot afternoon (hence the small strange leaves).
After I reworked it, I placed it on the porch itself, for a reduction of sun.

I am satisfied with the apparent health of this one, I just figure someone with experience may comment on this plan/these steps.

Thanks.
