We had a large Nitida 30’ tall cut down to 15’ as it could have damaged buildings. The tree is growing nicely & sent out this low branch that I air layered today. After doing that I thought is the whole branch cambium as it is only 6 weeks old? I did girdle the bark, scrape, apply alcohol, rooting hormone & wet sphagnum moss wrapped with plastic.

I guess we will see. If it doesn’t grow roots & stays alive I’ll air layer it when it’s older.

The branch died. Probably due to the alcohol killing all of the cambium. I was 1/2” D.

I'm with sorce on this. Really easy to root, take several cuttings. Perfect time of year.

What's with the alcohol? That's a loose term to describe a chemical that can be distilled from a broad variety of sources, most of which being caustic as Hell.
