Ficus wiring

Ficus before and after main trunk wiring with new apex. Left branch was pruned off by 1/2. Branch wiring will be done later when I get my hand on smaller wire. I'm going to need a lot of practice with this.

Not too bad, CR, you will get a lot of practice on a ficus, they grow so fast in our area of the country. One suggestion, try to get a good bend on the trunk where at the soil line so that it is not so straight there, it would make it more visually interesting. You can do it now as small ficus are really flexible. Also, you may have done this, it is hard to tell from the picture, but when bending the trunk, and branches, too, try to make sure that you are bending in 3 dimensions and not just two so that the trunk line is interesting from all angles.

I added more wire and bended the trunk as much as I could and gave it stronger 3D curves. With that it was apparent that another branch needed to be pruned off. I now have this. I will adjust more later when I have better wire.

If we want to make the future vision, thinking must become forward. This we have the method for.

We can take the wire, make the desirable form. By this I am meaning to shape a wire in trunk form, not the tree. We bend wire to vision.

Now we know vision is tree trunk 2 inches, for example. We can now cut the pipe ring for 2 inches and move to center of wire form. Now we can see result of our bend. If bend is sharp, then we see the pipe ring showing us to soften.

We now can successfully wire vision to tree, with knowing.
