I would opt for putting the whole thing in a closed transparant bag.

I would plant the cuttings. Water well and let it drain. Then put it in a bag so the water stays in and you have a fairly constant environment.

With some stuff I had lying around the garage I created a small greenhouse of sorts for my new Japanese maple cuttings we'll see if this works. it is my first time

Well it has been nearly two years but the maple air layer that started this post has a ton of roots. I am just don't know how many roots I need before separation. Please let know what is acceptable.
