I would have buried the large roots just a bit lower. Ideally the thick roots should be partially covered. But that is my taste, not a "rule".

I don't think you hurt the tree at all.
Thats reassuring to hear, thanks Leo! I see what you mean, especially with the huge one on the right. I may try to mound up some soil over there soon.

First brush with potbound roots. After a couple years, growth was stunted. Though healthy and green, not much activity from this boxwood. As a beginner, I always think repotting is risky and dangerous for the trees but I think a repot is exactly what this shrub needed. Two weeks after a repot and it is as vigorous as I’ve ever seen it in the 5 years I’ve had it.
