Here it is, just a small thing but it has some potential.
All the blue tips are what grew after the grab and rip.

I've re potted my blue in spring for years now and other spruce, and shouldn't you repot that in a flat or something first before throwing in a bonsai pot, see what the flare and roots look like. Most likely the nebari going to be 4 or so inches under the soil.

Is this spruce grafted ?

God I hope not! You see something?

I have never seen a blue grafted here, so I didn't think to check. Usually cultivars are grafted, never seen one that wasn't dead obvious.

I tend to avoid grafts like I avoid liars, bitches, and thieves!

That's why I love Bonsai People!
(None of the above!)

A lot of nursery blue spruce are grafted, not because they have to be, but because it is easier and faster propagation. I would look down low in the roots if I were you.

I worked at a tree nursery and none of the thousands we had were grafted.

Hi davetree,
I have 4 trees grafted onto Picea abies, attempting to be Bonsai. Union doesn’t seem to be a problem.

@sorce, keep rocking with those pots man, serious pot envy from down under.

Sorce,
I will bewatching this thread with interest.
Picked up 2 of these after christmas one year for 14.95 (they were 59.95 originally)
They were bulging out of their christmas pots. When I finally got the pots off they were in absolutely solid clay, the stickiest I have ever seen.
Absolutely nothing but clay..
I always planned to post the photos and didn't. Don't want to hijack your thread so wont post.
Will say I wish I had taken care of those big ugly whorls early on...

I never found Anything that wasn't a joy to scan again. If just to remember that time bettern

You seem keen on whorl removal like me!

I like your style!

This was in march 2013.
One is on its last leg and one still on both legs but likely on its way out. I never did the follow up and repot to get the rest of the clay out. my bad. Should have repotted 2 years ago. they were quite strong and pushing buds like crazy. on the trunk, on the limbs. I never did get the whorl bumps gone, tho I did get some new branching developed.
will try to look up more picks.
I have a couple other blue spruce dont think they are the colorado but not certain. Growing different.color bl spruce nebari march13.jpg col blu spruc soil 13.jpg colo bl spruce soil march13.jpg colo blue spruce out of muck march 13.jpg
