Exciting, aren't they? Bet you can't have just one.

I'd also like to see the Chinese quince in the background. I got one like that from Plant City Bonsai summer '14 and have been strengthening it for a trunk chop.
It was a brother to the tree you got. I just chopped it this year per bvfs instructions. Getting nervous because it hasn't popped any buds yet. The roots have escaped into the ground on that one too. Hoping something will happen soon. And I have 3 japanese quince. 1 contorted, 1 iwai nishiki, 1 dragons blood (from plant city)

Put down the pipe! You did comment on the duplicate thread.

Love quince flowers, especially the single ones. So simple and elegant.

Toyo nishiki, since planted in the ground to develop the trunk. Slow going but someday...

Nice to see others "hooked" on the fantastic little #2 bloomer heralding spring right behind ume. You'll have fun looking for the right colored ceramic pot to contrast with. So often I see blue used with the red but actually I like a nice white pot with red colored blooms..
My chinese quince is loaded with blooms this year.My white chojubai are just covered with color right now.

Interestingly enough I got into bonsai because of satsuke azaleas, but we didn't end up likeing each other. So I tried quince and have been hooked ever since. funny how some trees just seem to do better under your care than others.
