I decided to just go for it today. I watched some Bonsai Mirai and attempted my first big bend on this yew.

I’m pretty happy with the results and it brings a lot of the foliage into relationship with the deadwood and jins

I’m basically a professional now 🤣...100% kidding

Woah that’s pretty metal to be grinding at yew. Did you find it as hard of a wood as folks say?

I think I count at least 10 growth rings into which you cut. Bold move! I hope you’re rewarded well.

Yeah, i was nervous going into it. Cutting branches off of this tree in the past has been CRAZY hard. I thought “i only have a dremel 3000. I hope i don’t break a bit” but it was actually pretty soft on the inside. The grinder just carved through it no problem.
