Here is an entry into the contest. The container is this pice of river drift I found a mile from my house. A section of trunk taproot from a true fir (Abies). The interior had already rotted out quite a bit. I cleaned out the worst of it and applied wood hardener.

When I removed the loose bark, I found this really interesting wood grain on the surface. The trees will be selected from these Western Hemlocks and Western Red Cedar I dug from my property here.

Trees were planted early last year. They were fertilized well and allowed to grow. This spring the group is well established.9B1AD1C8-013C-4FD3-8A1E-E57BC0589A2C.jpeg
I did some selective pruning and wired out most of the trunks. Now just going to let it grow again. I’ll revisit at the end of summer and see if I can set branches comfortably then.
