Sitting on top of the bedrock in central fl is what we call gumbo clay. It is blue gray to green in color and impervious to water. This is known as the Hawthorn formation. It shows up often on jobsites will other fill dirt mixed in. I grabbed some the other day. The purpose- cut paste. I wish i had a ton more as i would mail it to you guys building pots to see how it would turn out. Good idea, bad idea for cut paste? We will find out. It blends well with deciduous.20180117_161215.jpg 20180117_161122.jpg 20180117_161129(0).jpg 20180117_161136.jpg

Interesting clay. When exposed to the air....does it dry out and shrink/crack?
Looks like a thick rich prototype modeling clay.....or a visual demonstration of “this is your brain on Bonsai”.

I remember finding that at recess when my friends and I would dig holes to a certain depth. This was in the Orlando area.
