My daughter commandeered this azalea about 10 years ago. Here is a shot from 2008:

Pot is a commissioned piece by Byron Myrick. The trunks are slowly developing some character.

Two years ago I was walking around the garden section at Lowes and found a broken branch of a giant variety of gardenia. I asked and they gave it to me. That branch is now a bush with flowers around 3" across. Unfortunately I don't have any shade for the gardenia to hide under so the leaves struggle to stay green. The tree has acclimated to the sun so it is healthy and growing.

Chionanthus virginicus - American fringe tree. These flowers are female. When I bought the tree it had fruit. The male fore some reason has not bloomed. Currently in a 15 gallon nursery pot, sizing up trunk before downsizing the tree to bonsai.

High bush blueberry 'Toro' early midseason, noted for large berries and large diameter, sturdy branches, thought this trait might make it better for bonsai. 4 th year, not old enough to know how it will work out. IMG_20190530_205728634.jpg

@Underdog
Mark, that deciduous azalea is stunningly beautiful. Is it fragrant too?
Looking forward to seeing how it develops.

@Wilson - that looks like a northern lights azalea - similar breeding for cold hardiness as the orange one above. Nice.

You are always on point Leo!20190526_184131.jpg

My Manacá this morning. This is a native from São Paulo, where I live.
Flowers open in white, get pink at noon and die purple in the evening, so one gets the three colours at the same time during the day.
from Wikipedia:
"Tibouchina mutabilis is an evergreen tree with an open crown that grows in Brazil , mainly at the Serra do Mar zone.
Also known as glory bush in Australia, where it is a popular ornamental plant.
In Brazil, it is named Manacá-da-serra."
