An unknown satsuki, not close to bonsai status, still working on getting it there. I grew it from a cutting, struck 3 years ago. This particular one has the most variation in flowers that I have ever seen. The one that my dad has (cuttings came form this plant) had at least 15 different flowers on it.

@Mellow Mullet I’d love to trade you a couple Kinsai cuttings for a couple cuttings from this plant if you have any going. Those flowers are incredible, especially with pinks and reds both on the same plant. Reminds me of the one in BT 41, which was mind-blowing.

My Kinsai cuttings are still small so far, so it may be next year before I can move them to individual pots and ensure the flowers are the thin-petaled shape. This is the parent plant last year, it’s not blooming quite yet.

The family grabbed a coffee and went to our favorite nursery today with nothing really in mind. At our last house, our neighbor had what she called a “native” azalea, that is deciduous, blooms orange, and incredibly fragrant. We could smell it from the other side of her yard. We found one today at the nursery and couldn’t leave without it. I think we’ll plant it near where it’s sitting in the photos. It’s a Rhododendron x J E B Stuart.

As in the confederate general JEB Stuart?

This box store azalea "autumn ivory" I thought poofed over winter because it was left unprotected down to mid/low 20s. That's when I moved it and a couple other projects into a protected but still freezing area inside. Just about all the leaves died except for 2 twigs. I was very happy to see it popped tiny buds earlier this month. look at the carnage! Dead leaves and flower buds. This one might put on a crappy show this year as I don't think it's an encore variety. Lost the tag but I hope it is though.

First flower to bloom for this one! I'm trading this "landscape" one with a friend's azalea. I might start a thread on that one.

LOL Id kill for a few more months of cool weather.... Already had our fist day of hitting 99!
I guess the grass is always greener.... but I'd happily give up the cold and snow/ice.

I hear that… Moved west from New York about nine years ago. I do not miss the snow… But I do miss the cooler temps. Kind of went to the extreme !?

Ok, ok, I’ll be adding some flowers to my garden, this thread has convinced me. BE546370-36F9-4CBA-9D36-62BC65558E7C.jpeg948A6965-C831-46A5-AAE4-2EB22F739DDA.jpeg563C02C3-C94D-49C8-A905-8D021821CE1B.jpeg

A tree I helped transplant when I started my latest job, it was different but I was up for it.. I weld for a landscaper.

Any body know what this is? It grows in my neighborhood, I want to try and get a cutting from the tree because it’s growing from a low branch the gardeners cut off last year but don’t know what it is or how to go about getting a cutting. Lol

I have three of his cuttings, two were wired and planted in grow beds, and even being small cuttings at the time they produced a wonderful variety of blooms last year. Absolute winner IMO, and so is that kindsai. A couple of the flower types I saw.
